Data Management and Sharing Plans

TUesday June 18, 2024 | 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EST

A data management and sharing plan (DMSP) is a formal document that outlines how you plan to handle your data both during your research project and after your project is complete, including how it will be made publicly available at the time of publication. The need for robust DMSPs has increased, with more federal and private funding agencies requiring DMSPs in their grant applications. The National Science Foundation (NSF) has outlined guidance requiring all investigators to include a DMSP in their grant proposals.

How does this affect your research? What do you need to include in your DMSP?

Join staff from the FSU Office of Research and the FSU Libraries for a workshop focused on crafting a DMSP that will meet policy requirements. Research Data Management Librarian Dr. Nick Ruhs will walk us through what DMSPs are, resources that are available to help craft DMSPs, how to create them, and examples of DMSPs for specific funding agencies. We'll have ample time for Q&A related to the NSF as well as NIH guidance so that FSU researchers are prepared to respond.

Please review the FSU Libraries Research Data Management Guide prior to the live session.

You may submit questions in advance when you register.

Please REGISTER HERE. A Zoom link will be provided before the workshop.

Speaker Information:

This workshop will be led by Nicholas "Nick" Ruhs, Research Data Management Librarian in the FSU STEM Libraries, and moderated by Cynthia Norris, Research Development Coordinator for Science and Technology. Additional Office of Research staff will participate in the Q&A.
