Social Media Workshop

Program Overview

undefinedFiguring out how to use social media to promote your research, teach a class and network with colleagues across the globe can be a daunting proposition. In this interactive workshop, you will be introduced to some of the most popular social media platforms and informed of how you can utilize them within your academic career. Highlights will include:

  • Overview of popular platforms and how to sign up if you’re not already using them;
  • Creative examples of how faculty members are using social media in the classroom;
  • Ways you can use social media to highlight or draw attention to your research agenda;
  • How to virtually connect with colleagues and funding agencies.

Please bring your laptop or tablet. Exploration during the presentation is highly encouraged!

This one-hour workshop will be led by Kathleen Haughney, Research Media and Content Specialist for the Office of Research, and Patrick Merle, Assistant Professor of Communications in the College of Communication and Information. It is geared toward faculty, but anyone is welcome to join, including doctoral students and postdocs. The workshop will take place on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm in the Globe, room 2500.
