Sustainable Solutions
March 27, 2025 | 3:00 - 5:30 PM
FSU Alumni Center (1030 W Tennessee St)
Collaborative Collision: Sustainable Solutions is for research into environmental, social, and economic sustainability to foster a resilient future for all. There are six interdisciplinary thematic areas:
- Green energy and technology
- Climate resilience, management, and mitigation
- Climate impacts on health
- Sustainability policy and ethics
- Built environmental impacts on human flourishing
- Responsible AI and sustainability
This networking event gathers researchers from across FSU working on sustainable solutions to a wide range of problems, as well as community partners interested in supporting these efforts, to build connections and launch new research teams that will make a positive impact on our community.
Collaborative Collision focuses on each potential team member's research background and interests. Faculty researchers will be asked to create a Research Profile that summarizes their expertise and specific ways they can help or be helped by a collaborator or team.
Perhaps you are an engineer working on solar or wind power but want to understand the political and economic challenges to implementing renewable energy at a large scale. Maybe you are a materials scientist exploring alternatives to rare earth elements and wish to study the potential impact of these alternatives on labor markets and the supply chain. Or perhaps you study AI in healthcare and seek collaborators to understand how these technologies may be used to improve healthcare access for hard-to-reach populations. Maybe you are working to mitigate climate-driven health disparities – such as vulnerability to extreme heat – but need modeling expertise to identify high-risk areas and populations. Or perhaps you are interested in how youth movements can shape policymaking and are looking to develop community connections to guide your research.
This networking event is intended to bring together a variety of perspectives to address sustainability in interdisciplinary ways. We encourage anyone interested in research within the thematic areas to attend!
