Senate's Targeted COVID-19 Relief Package Fails
Today, a slimmed down Phase IV COVID-19 relief package fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance in the Senate. The outcome was expected, as the package was well short of the goals communicated by the Senate minority and House majority. Informal negotiations may continue between congressional leaders and the White House in the days ahead. However, at this point, it appears that a next phase of COVID-19 relief will need to wait until after the November elections.
