Former FL Senator Bill Nelson Nominated to Head NASA
On March 19th, the White House formally announced an intent to nominate former U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) to head the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Nelson's 30 years in Congress, including leadership of committees that have NASA oversight responsibilities, and close relationship with President Biden will be helpful assets in the new role. In a press release, Senator Rubio (R-FL) shared strong support for the nomination, "There has been no greater champion, not just for Florida's space industry, but for the space program as a whole than Bill."
The position requires Senate confirmation, which is expected without significant difficulty.
