Federal Government to Remain Open through Dec. 20
The Hill will soon send President Trump legislation that will keep the federal government open through Dec. 20th, giving leaders more time to negotiate final appropriations numbers for Fiscal Year 2020.
Higher education advocates are urging the Hill to approve final numbers for the current fiscal year as soon as possible, fearing that a delay into the new year may result in Congress giving up and level funding the federal government for the entire fiscal year. Such a move would negate funding increases for research and student aid programs that the House and Senate have advanced over the course of the year.
