Biden Names Science Team Picks
President-elect Biden will soon announce selection of Dr. Eric Lander to serve as his chief science advisor and head of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Lander is a mathematician and geneticist who led the Human Genome Project. The OSTP position will be elevated to cabinet rank for the first time, a signal of the Biden team's commitment to policymaking informed by science. Dr. Alondra Nelson, a social scientist, will join OSTP as deputy direct. The transition team has also announced that Dr. Francis Collins will remain at the helm of the National Institutes of Health.
