182 House Members Call for Research Relief Funds
Today, in a bipartisan letter led by Representatives Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Fred Upton (R-MI), 182 members of the House of Representatives called for research relief funds in the next COVID-19 recovery package. The $26 billion requested would cover supplements for research grants and contracts, provide emergency relief to sustain research support personnel and base operating costs for core research facilities, and fund research fellowships/traineeships/assistantships for up to two years. Prospects for approval of the funds should become more clear in mid-May when both chambers are scheduled to be back in DC.
